KENYAN FASHION ENTREPRENEURS - Fredrick Gitari (TOPMOST KOLLECTION)

Q1) Please introduce yourself

        Government know me as Fredrick Gitari as per my I.D,but my fellow youths and people around calls me Freddie

Q2) How did you get started
   It started way back last year that's where i came up with the name Topmost Kollection, though  I had a    passion for fashion and designing since my high school.
With the passion started by T-shirt printing for Local artists in coast and later on got into designing shoes,blazers and suits for weddings.


Q3) What have you done so far(in terms of your art work)
       I have managed to cross from unemployment to self-employment by coming up with creative designs that are unique and still working hard for every fashion trend that comes my way.


Q4) Which organizations have you worked with or for if any, so far.

       I have designed shoes for a Charitable organization called Cheka Mtoi Aishi whereby the money out of the shoes would help buy heaters and be taken to Hospital and save babies lives.

Q5) What great challenges have you encountered in what you are doing

     Finance,it has always be a challenge to many so is to me as well,especially when i got started,I couldn't have capital to buy materials  so I would borrow from my family and friends and then return the money when the job is done

Q6)If you had a chance, what would you change in the industry or your area of art

     I would change people's mentality that locally made things or designs should be sold at a cheaper price,which is not true,people should accept the reality that the cost of production or designing is very high and since we want to make something out of our work,we have to sell at a relatively higher price

Q7) What projects are you working on at the moment

 New designs that i know will surprise many who love fashion and design.Am also working in setting up shops in town that is if anyone who would wants the ready-made stuff can readily get it

Q8)Who do you look up to as an artist or designer

   Blackbird Jeans and John Kaveke...Like Blackbird jeans,these guys are just amazing in their taste of style in fashion industry

Q9) Anything else you would like to share with us,,,,  

  First of all,I would like to say,nothing good comes from a good place,one must struggle and do what it take to get what he/she what....easy comes easy goes!!!!,...I also would like to say that,always keep your eyes open to see that opportunity coming and never give up on your dream

 
 To the people aspiring to get into the same industry...... I would like to tell them,all that matters is perseverance,be patient and work smart to please your potential clients..It is because of this that Topmost Kollection is now catching up in town
